Product
A set of three (3) cartridge filter elements is available for our 10" Big Blue housing with 1.5" inlet/outlet connections. Standard configuration is a string wound sediment cartridge, 5-micron, in 4.5 inch OD x 10 inch length. Other filter efficiencies and radial flow carbon cartridges (RFC) are available as options. The interval of time between filter replacement varies depending on the amount of sediment and/or contaminant contained in your water, but typical replacement is required every three to four months.

Our standard filter sets are supplied with 5-micron sediment removal cartridges - suitable for most applications. You can select other cartridge filter configurations as listed below. Visit the Cartridge Water Filters Product Information to learn more about this product.
20-Micron - The micron size of a sediment cartridge means that the filter will remove (on average) particles down to the listed rating. In applications where there is a substantial amount of sediment contained in the water, using a standard 5-micron cartridge may require too frequent replacement of the filter, and a more coarse 20-micron cartridge may be used. This filter can be used as a stand-alone pre-filter for a water softener, but in cases where an ultraviolet sterilization system will be used, we recommend that a second 5-micron filter is installed downstream (UV requires 5-micron pre-filtration).
1-Micron - For applications requiring very fine filtration. A 1-micron cartridge can be used. Caution: Using 1-micron cartridge filters with a high level of sediment present may result in intolerable pressure drop or frequent replacement of the cartridge. If this condition exists, pre-filtration with a 5 or 20 micron cartridge may be required.
Radial Flow Cartridges - Used to remove chlorine, and many VOCs (volatile oxidative compounds, solvents) from your water, these are high-flow carbon cartridges with low pressure drop. Standard granular activated carbon (GAC) cartridges can cause restricted flow due to a high pressure drop across the cartridge. Radial Flow (RFC) carbon cartridges provide all of the performance of a standard GAC cartridge, but without the pressure drop penalty!
